4 Day Fort Portal & Semliki

DAY 1: TRANSFER TO FORT PORTAL CITY

This day you will be picked by our driver guide to fort portal city, the tourism city of Uganda situated at the base of Rwenzori mountains in the greater Tooro kingdom. This city is also known as a gate way for Uganda’s adventures. Once you arrive, you will check in at mountains of the moon hotel for dinner, refreshments and overnight stay.

DAY 2: NYAKASURA FALLS EXPERIENCE AND CRATER DRIVE

Following breakfast in the morning, you will be picked up by our driver guide and driven to the Nyakasura falls at Amabere ga Nyina Mwiru caves located seven kilometres away from Fort portal where you will learn about its touching legend stories of the breasts of Mwiru’s mother. You will need propel walking boats because sometimes the path to the jungle of Amabere can be slippery and wet.  You will then trek to the top of the Nyakasura hill where you will be able to see the crater lakes which will give you a memorable experience.

Crater drive

There are dozens of volcanic craters that pock the landscape north of Mweya to remind us the Albertine rift valley’s history. The 27km crater drive between kabatoro and crater gates follows a breath-taking route around the rims of extinct craters filled variously with lakes, forest and grassland.

DAY 3: SEMPAYA HOT SPRINGS EXPERIENCE AND BIRDING IN SEMULIKI NATIONAL PARK

On this day after breakfast, you will be picked by our tour guide to Semuliki national park, check in at Nyati game lodge and you then go for hot springs experience.

Hot springs experience

The male and female sempaya hot springs are semuliki’s most famous attraction located about 30 minutes’ walk from the main road into the forest tracks of the national park. The springs are breath taking and thrilling to see steamy hot water boiling, bubbling ang jetting from the ground at about 103 degrees Celsius.

Birding in the afternoon

Semuliki is one of the richest areas for forest birds in Africa making it one of the best destinations for birding in Uganda therefore you will be able to see a variety of bird species including the Albertine rift endemics such as the dwarf honey guide, the purple- breasted sunbirds, 35 Congo-guinea biome species which are not found anywhere else in east Africa including the black dwarf hornbill, Nkulengu rail, Congo serpent eagle, Gabon woodpecker among other species and this activity will give you an amazing experience. After this activity you will go back to your lodge for freshments, dinner and an overnight stay.

DAY 4: GAME DRIVE IN SEMULIKI AND DEPARTURE

Following breakfast in the morning, you will be picked up by our driver guide and head for a morning game drive. This amazing activity will take you about 3-4 hours and it is done at Toro Semuliki wildlife reserve where you will be able to see forest and savannah elephants along with buffalo, waterbuck, crocodile, warthog, Uganda Kob, bush babies among others. You will then go back to your lodge, have lunch, check and depart to Kampala.
